Who are we?

The Family Place is a not-for-profit community organisation covering the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley regions. We provide a broad range of services for our community including support for families and vulnerable people, community development and disaster recovery initiatives, and cultural revitalisation work.

About the project

The Kindred Kollective Program, funded by the NSW Office for Regional Youth, caters to individuals aged 12 to 24 in the Eurobodalla & Bega Valley Shires. Our mission is to provide a dynamic platform for growth, empowerment, and self-expression, offering creative wellbeing experiences and future pathways.

Kindred Kollective aims to give young people real-world skills through professional mentoring, workshops, and work experience opportunities- across both creative arts, community development & event planning.

What we're looking for

We are seeking contractors to facilitate exceptional creative programs and/or provide mentoring for young people. If you have experience engaging with aspirational and creative people aged from 12-24, we want to hear from you! You may be required in and out of usual business hours, including during school holidays. after school and weekends.

FACILITATORS
We are seeking artists who have experience delivering workshop style experiences in group settings with young people. Facilitating at Kindred Kollective may include collaborating with other facilitators and creatives. We are excited to hear what ideas and creative outlets you can bring to this project.

MENTORS
If you are an experienced professional involved in the performing arts, creative wellbeing and/or theatre space this could be for you. We want to give young people opportunities to speak with those in their industry of interest to learn more about future pathways for their careers and personal goals.

We are currently looking to recruit Support Workers to provide supervised transport, supervised contact, mentoring and respite services on a casual basis. These positions will be servicing the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley Shires.

Selection of potential job candidates will be based around their qualifications and / or relevant experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families. Successful candidates will be expected to attend intensive  in-house induction and training prior to providing support services to clients. Candidates must have a current Driver Licence, well maintained vehicle and be comprehensively insured. Kilometers travelled will be reimbursed at the current ATO rate.

Selection Criteria to be addressed in cover letter

  • Demonstrated experience undertaking support / advocacy work with vulnerable young people and their families with a thorough understanding of trauma informed practice and high levels of resilience and flexibility
  • Demonstrated experience working sensitively and collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Highly developed communication skills developed in a range of settings and contexts
  • Demonstrated competencies with standard Office Suite applications
  • The ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict
  • Working knowledge of health, community, and social services available to people residing in the Eurobodalla and/or Bega Valley

Purpose

Casework Support Workers directly assist the day-to-day work of Caseworkers in their efforts to provide care and improve the life experiences of vulnerable children, young people and families.

  • Provide case worker support scheme services including mentoring, transport, supervised contact and respite care
  • Provide high quality written reports as required by DCJ for all client contacts
  • Collaborate with DCJ caseworkers and TFP administrative staff to address team priorities and ensure DCJ generated family case plans and the Case Work Support Scheme program guidelines are followed
  • Display sensitivity to issues of confidentiality, gender, cultural background, disability, age and sexuality in dealing with young people and their families.
  • Ensure stakeholders and families are treated with dignity, respect and timely follow up of notes and allocated tasks
  • Comply with mandatory reporting requirements as required by the relevant legislations
  • Attend scheduled meetings, training and conferences including travel to other regions where overnight stays may be required to ensure that program objectives are met
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing administrative processes and procedures, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency
  • Contribute to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) by complying with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, and the organisation’s WHS management system
