We are seeking a motivated and compassionate person who would like to launch their career in the Community Services industry. 

About the role

The SHS Community Engagement Officer (Trainee) will be supported to work directly with people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. Many of these people will be in crisis and facing a number of other challenges. The position is a traineeship, and you will be required to undertake formal training as part of the role. 

It is envisaged that the position will be a full-time roll and will be remunerated appropriately under the NSW SCHADS Award.

  • Current Driver’s License
  • Working with Children Check and Police Clearance
  • Strong community networks, work ethic and high standards of professionalism
  • Alignment with our organisational values: creative, collaborative, curious, kind and respectful.
  • High level of maturity and ability to engage proactively and sensitively with clients
  • Broad understanding of socio-economic disadvantage and the cycle of poverty
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through school, sporting, or extra-curricular activities

  • Demonstrated commitment to a career in the community sector
  • Commitment to furthering education in the community sector
