Our Story
The Family Place has been providing support for families impacted by social disadvantage, domestic violence and homelessness in the Eurobodalla for over 30 years.
We have been building on the existing strength and resilience of our community through the provision of therapeutic and practical support, financial counselling, intensive family preservation, cultural revitalisation projects and targeted support for children and young people to break the cycle of violence, intergenerational trauma and social disadvantage.
Initially established as the Eurobodalla Family Support Service, our organisation rebranded in 2019 to become The Family Place – a name that has become much more reflective of the holistic work we do with individuals and families and also in the community development, healing and recovery space.
We pride ourselves on being a voice for community and an agent for social justice. Our approach is genuinely collaborative, with a real focus on empowering Aboriginal communities.
Prior to the rebrand, April 2019 we completed voluntary accreditation under the Australian Excellence Service Standards (ASES) Through QIP. This process provided a valuable roadmap to ensure strong service provision and governance.
After the rebrand in April 2021, we acquired Impact Inc. activity becoming a specialist homelessness service.
The Family Place is positioned for a period of exponential growth, where changes to our structure and culture has made us a stronger and more sustainable non-for-profit organisation.
We will continue to walk with our community, supporting and responding to need and opportunity.
